He was known for re-adapting and refining the then ancient Rhythm and Blues into Rock ‘n Roll, creating the foundation for the genre with his outlandish performances and dramatic guitar solos. The St. Louis-born artist and songwriter commenced his career when he joined the Johnnie Johnson Trio, but he was truly recognized when he became acquainted with the Muddy Waters singer. He was then handed to Chess Records by the singer, releasing his initial hit called Ida Rad, which was bought over one million times.

Pete Townshend is a household name in British and international rock music in general. He was one part of The Who’s leadership, a band that he would be dedicated to for over half a century.
