Following Ruth’s example, the whole retirement home has been collecting pop tabs for charity reasons too. “I’m shocked at how well they’ve done,” said one of the retirement home’s staff, who expressed amazement at the popularity of the tabs.

Ruth has gathered over a million pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House as of this writing, and she continues to do so. It does not take long for her to go into the dumpsters that are around her and begin sifting through the trash.
