Supercars Can Never Match Up To The Value Of These Motorcycles

Published on 05/23/2021

Motorcycles are known to be relatively cheaper than cars, but did you know that some of these same motorcycles actually cost more than most cars? Many people desire to have these bikes even though they are rare and possibly far from many people’s budgets. But who says one can’t dream big? Many of these said motorcycles are pretty unique and may only have one or two of them existing in the world. On the flip side, some do have multiple in production but have served their time and now exist as a legendary figure for those newly designed ones. Whether they are new or have been around for a few years, or they have multiple on the streets or only two in the world…here are 40 motorcycles that are quite expensive…

1955 Vincent Black Prince

1955 Vincent Black Prince

1955 Vincent Black Prince

The Vincent Black Prince was quite underrated and never got the respect and attention it truly deserved. Just imagine, people are not seeing its true colors until around 50 years after it was designed. It sure is sad many people never saw its potential back then. The 1955 Vincent Black Prince first got in production between 1954 and 1955 but didn’t last too long as the Vincent factory was closed as not many sales were coming in to keep it afloat. But, as the years went by, the value and pricetag for these bad boys went up as they now go for a whopping $162,800. They are now in the high lane for motorcycle lovers.

This exclusive bike was designed from a single piece of metal.

Neiman Marcus Limited Edition Fighter

Hildebrand & Wolfmuller

The Hildebrand & Wolfmuller has a rich history as it brings back memories of when motorcycles just came on the market. This motorcycle was designed and created back in 1894, making it over 125 years old and one of the oldest to be in existence. It was designed and manufactured by two steam engine engineers who had a love and passion for trains but decided to try their skills at motorcycles. It would later become a more of transport that the world fascinates in. Back in those days, the equivalent of loads of pennies could get you one of these, but today, when it is rare and hard to find, you might need to fork out roughly $3,500,000.00.

These bikes are specially designed, and the production period between 2000 to 2005 only saw bikes that were done to order, seeing how unique they were. Just imagine…it topped the chart above brands like Indian and Harley-Davidson. Before long, it became a popular name among motorcycle enthusiasts during the 1940s. As the war set back in, it slowly lost its popularity as it was in short supply, and not many people had high interest anymore. 1939 BMW RS255 Kompresso

The 1939 BMW RS255 Kompresso was considered one of the best racing bikes that provided an experience like no other. As such, it comes as no surprise when we see the price tag being $480,000. BMW was on a mission to build a lightweight bike yet pretty fast and was top-class above those already on the market. The bike was already light, but BMW decided it was best to add a supercharger to give it a boost in power. However, there was a drawback when it came to the 1939 BMW RS255 Krompresso…it was not quite reliable as many others were out there. It had a lot of engine issues and was known to stall a lot.

Bear in mind, it has been used for years, and when the 2008 Suzuki AEM Hayabusa was released, and carbon fiber was the sole material used, it was very much welcomed. Here’s one of the fastest bikes to exist in the 1920s

1929 Scott Flying Squirrel

The 1929 Scott Flying Squirrel was designed with many features that saw it being a stand-out during the time it was produced. It was a British-made motorcycle designed by Alfred Angas Scott, who decided to hand over the bike to Steve McQueen. As it turned out, he loved it and went on to keep the ride.
The bike was later sold off in an auction for a total of $276,000 and is now the property of a private collector. Scott’s owner, Von Dutch, came back on the scene in recent times, but we are not sure if we will see a brand new motorcycle coming from him anytime soon. For sure, his first model is a legend for the rest that will be developed.

1915 Iver Johnston Twin

The 1915 Iver Johnston Twin was designed and manufactured by a company that made guns, and if we say it is slower than a bullet, then we would be lying. It seems as though the skills and techniques used in manufacturing the guns, was translated into making this motorcycle what it truly is. During the production cycle, the Twin model went under a lot of adjustments and upgrades, including a V-Twin motor that was able to go roughly 65 mph. We have to say that was quite a great feature and helped it to be among the fastest bike of the period. The demand is quite high as a whopping $300,000 was used to purchase it.

Some of the other models designed under the Merkel name were the Merkel and Merkel Light. Interestingly, both the Merkel and Merkel Light were released before the 1911 Flying Merkel came on the scene. However, only a limited amount was manufactured, and not many people got to experience them while on the road. But, being a historic ride, you may have to fork out an average of $423,500 to own one.

1894 Roper Steam Motorcycle

The 1894 Roper Steam Motorcycle is one of the earliest and first motorcycles to be created and, as it stands, could cost you an average of $425,000. The bike was designed and manufactured back in 1894, but interestingly, the first model was sold only 27 years later. We are not sure what caused the date gap. Only a small amount of these motorcycles were created, and for the ones that exist to this day, the owners are surely keeping them in a safe place. It seems they rarely take them outdoors, and since this is the case, it could be a hard case for us who have not seen one in person as that might never happen.
